About Little Black Dress Theatre

Little Black Dress Theatre: We are an emerging theatre company committed to telling women's stories to foster understanding and empathy in our city and the world. Little Black Dress Theatre is the brainchild of actors and playwrights: Kate Kudelka and Lise Maher. We met as students at George Brown Theatre School, but a few years after graduating found that as much as we loved being a part of other people’s projects, we had the desire to create something of our own. We formed as a collective with the purpose of beginning to explore the playwriting process together. We began by exploring with each other the things that really matter to us, creatively and otherwise. This spawned our first scripted project, “Queen Margaret”, which in turn has splintered into two distinct projects, “Ladies-in-Waiting” being the first that we have developed, making it’s debut this summer as part of the Toronto Fringe Festival.
